Italian

L’ORMINDO: Francesco Cavalli, 1644. Two moorish princes vie for the love of Erisbe, unhappily married to the aged Hariadeno. While one eventually returns to his earlier love, the other is discovered to be Hariadeno’s son, and ends happily in possession of his father’s kingdom. Original commission from The Royal Opera House. This baroque rarity is in a version substantially cut for performance in Kasper Holten’s production at the Sam Wanamaker Theatre.
